Frequently asked questions
What CSV files does this work with?
Any transaction export with a date column and an amount column — downloads from US banks and credit card portals, Excel or Google Sheets saved as CSV, or exports from bookkeeping tools. The parser auto-detects the columns and shows you the mapping it chose before you export.
My CSV has separate debit and credit columns — is that supported?
Yes. Columns headed "Debit"/"Withdrawal" and "Credit"/"Deposit" are recognized automatically: debits become negative amounts and credits positive. A single signed amount column works too, including parentheses-style negatives like (60.00).
What if the column detection guesses wrong?
You'll see the detected mapping ("Date → X, Amount → Y") above the preview, plus a warning when several columns look plausible. Every cell in the preview table is editable, so you can fix dates, descriptions, or amounts — or delete stray rows — before downloading the QBO.
The bank gave me a .qfx or .ofx file, not a CSV — what now?
Even better — those are structured bank formats and convert more reliably than CSV. Use the QFX to QBO converter or the OFX to QBO converter; both are free, just like this page.
Is my CSV uploaded anywhere?

How do I get the QBO into QuickBooks?
QuickBooks Online: Banking → Upload transactions, pick the .qbo file, choose the account, and review. QuickBooks Desktop: File → Utilities → Import → Web Connect. Each transaction carries a stable ID, so re-importing the same file won't duplicate entries.
Which date and amount formats are recognized?
Dates: US-style MM/DD/YYYY and M/D/YY, ISO YYYY-MM-DD, plus written forms like "05 Jan 2026" or "Jan 5, 2026". Amounts: dollar signs and thousand separators are fine, and negatives work as either a leading minus or accounting-style parentheses — (60.00) becomes -60.00.
QuickBooks rejected my QBO file — what should I check?
First make sure the preview actually listed transactions — a file with zero rows imports nothing. In QuickBooks Online use Banking → Upload transactions (not "Connect bank"). If rows are missing or in the wrong columns, the column detection guessed wrong: fix the cells in the preview and export again. Still stuck? Use the Feedback link in the navigation and tell us what QuickBooks said — that message usually pinpoints the problem.
